Earned Media

Do you have patients who have had positive outcomes in your program? Would they be willing to provide a testimonial for the program?

Budgets for advertising and community education at our hospitals are often quite tight. This makes promoting our programs a little challenging. However, we do have a few options that can be very cost effective to promote our programs. Below are a few ideas our programs could employ to promote the program:

- Earned Media

  • Reach out to the local media partner (either newspaper, TV networks, magazines, etc.) with a positive outcome story or testimonial. Some patients might be willing to do a video or audio testimonial. Written testimonials can also be quite powerful as well. Some media partners might want you to submit a brief or entire write up. If you need help with this, let me know.

- Hospital Video Monitors

  • If your hospital has TVs throughout the hospital with rotating banners or ads, it would be a good idea to have your program promoted on there. This could also be a video or written testimonial of a positive outcome from the program as well.

- Hospital Marquee

  • Some of our hospitals have an electronic marquee outside of their building that rotates ads or banners. This could be a good area to promote your program staff, psychiatrist, therapist, nurse, or unit clerk.

- Website

  • Make sure that you are included in a rotating banner on the hospital website.

These are by no means the only things you can do to promote your programs in a cost-effective manner. However, these are some of the easier ways to make sure your program is in front of the right potential referral sources.
